Summary:
Impatient, and irritable Yelgrun takes his business dealings very seriously. He has callous, stonelike expressions, often bored, and easily angered. Yelgrun speaks with a deep, rolling drawl of a voice. Many find this Vorta's strange drawl amusing, typically when he goes off on an impatient fit over the most petty of trivial matters. Yelgrun makes a good Dominion operative in that he completes tasks quickly, is straightforward and skilled at negotiating, in his own unique way. His unique skills have apparently allowed him to climb to a high rank, as he is allowed to have a massive number of Jem'Hadar accompany him on even the most minor of missions.
Yelgrun was the Vorta sent to negotiate a prisoner exchange with a group of ragtag Ferengi, lead by the head of the Deep Space Nine's Business and Commerce Authority, Quark. Meeting on the abandoned Cardassian station, Empok Nor, Yelgrun was sent to exchange their prisoner Moogi, Quark's mother, for the Starfleet POW, Keevan. An accident on the Ferengi's part resulted in the death of their prisoner, turning the mission into chaos. The confident Yelgrun having previously agreed to send all but two of his Jem'Hadar away from the site of the exchange, the six Ferengi took control of the situation, ultimately ending in Yelgrun's own capture as a POW.
Yelgrun:
Yelgrun was a shocking Vorta. What a frightening alien. Though the fact that his task involved dealing with the Ferengi, especially Moogi, put him in hilarious situations. He
is just a bit contrary to the typical Vorta personality, but I thought he was cool. A lot of fans don't seem to like Yelgrun, though I wouldn't have minded seeing him in just a few more episodes of DS9. You know, Yelgrun would make a good advertising mascot for selling eye moisturizer. Or better yet, he could travel to planet Earth and compose old 21st century punk rock music. Yeah, that's it.
(If you've never heard any music by Iggy Pop, he's actually pretty good. I personally like the song 'Little Know it All', check it out if you can!)
